The 5th Asia-Pacific Coral Reef Symposium (APCRS) was held in Singapore from 19th to 23rd June, 2023. This special issue presents studies from the symposium, reflecting the breadth and depth of research on coral reef systems conducted across the Asia-Pacific region. Through the symposium platform and this special issue, we are hopeful that coral reef researchers and managers resolve to create new paradigms so as to address key challenges impacting Asia-Pacific coral reefs.
